My second exhibition, featuring “The Song of the Gorillas,” was held at the gallery located in the Old Railway Station, under the auspices of the Secretariat of Culture of the Municipality of Querétaro, Méx. I had many wonderful experiences interacting with gallery visitors on several occasions. I was able to share the process behind drawing each animal, discuss their habitats and their roles on the planet, and answer questions—including inquiries about my commitment to donate 40% of the proceeds from the sale of the drawings toward the preservation of gorillas, the very subject that inspired the collection’s name. For this exhibition, the Secretariat of Culture of the Municipality of Querétaro presented me with my first formal recognition as an exhibiting artist.
