My name is Ma. Guadalupe Salinas Herrera, and I work under the artist name Ma. Orangután. I am a clinical psychologist and philosopher, with a Master’s degree in Human Potential Development.
In May 2023, an accident left me with fractures in both legs. Over the course of 12 surgeries and long recovery periods, I began to draw—first on my own, and later through classes, courses, workshops, and the exploration of different techniques.
The name Ma. Orangután was born during that time, while I painted from bed, unable to move my legs.
Today, my work includes two collections and has been presented in four solo exhibitions.
El Canto de los Gorilas brings together 15 drawings in oil and dry pastel on paper, portraying African animals and endangered species.
El Baile de los Gorilas features 15 drawings in oil and dry pastel on paper, centered on Polish chickens.
I donate 40% of the proceeds from every artwork sold to the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, supporting gorilla conservation.
